This year I decided to do something a little different for a “new year’s resolution”. I find it hard to stick to one thing throughout the year, and instead made a list of 25 things I wanted to do while I am still 25. My birthday is September 18, so I have 6 months to go. Some are things to do weekly, some are things to do once, some are things to accomplish over time. Some of them I am already falling behind on, but this list is a constant reminder of where I am placing my priorities this year.
1. Find a Church
2. Clean out my closet
3. Surprise Travis
4. Work out every week until 9/18
5. Keep up a monthly budget
6. Talk to my girlfriends every week
7. Save every month for a new car
8. Call Poppi weekly
9. Keep up a manicure
10. Construct a gallery wall in my room
11. Try 5 new restaurants
12. Teach Major a trick
13. Get euro pillow shams
14. Eat at an indian restaurant
15. Get rid of some shoes
16. Hike Mt. Bonnell
17. Keep up my 4.0 GPA
18. Go visit Travis
19. Post on my blog at least once a month
20. Visit Dallas
21. Visit Houston
22. RUN a 5-k
23. Try 5 new recipes
24. Host a party
25. Go to a concert
Many of these are weekly or monthly challenges, so I will not be able to cross them off until September, but check back then, or feel free to send me weekly/monthly reminders to keep me accountable. Have you challenged yourself this year? New Year’s resolution? Promises to yourself? How are you keeping yourself accountable?
Well I have officially been a graduate student for 9 months, and I will be graduating in about 10 months. Halfway-ish?
Work/school/puppy/travel/every-friend-I-have-is-getting-married keeps me away from this blog, which I hate, but I will one day be back. Here is a little image to keep you on hold until I have time to write an actual post.
Found/stolen from Pinterest.
Until next time, friends. CHEERS!
..to the land of the pines.
I am North Carolina bound tomorrow, and I could not be more ready for a little R&R with my main squeeze. We have a sushi date planned for tomorrow night, then we are driving up to Morgantown, WV to meet up with friends for the Texas football game.
We have been told that the Mountaineer fans are not the most friendly, so we will NOT be donning burnt orange all weekend, but don’t get me wrong, I am going to wear a burnt orange scarf that I can shove in my purse.
On my current packing list:
However, I really hope they sing Country Roads, because I will definitely join in.
Also, I told T I was going to wear jeans a scarf to the game and he replied “Don’t you think you should wear a shirt?” My word. Men…
So my last post was about how busy the summer had been. My previous post is about to be trumped.
T had an interview on Tuesday, and was offered the job on the spot. Awesome, right?! Kind of. He will be moving to North Carolina in less than two weeks. BUMMED girlfriend over here.
Which means, I have just become a single mother. (to our 4 mo. old puppy)
I start my second semester of grad school in 5 days. Did I mention I will be going to school full time (9 hours) and working full time (40 hours). WHAT WAS I THINKING?
On top of that we (now I) have season tickets to Longhorn football, weddings and showers to attend, three races this fall, and other things planned. I am really going to miss T being so close.
I’m hoping that school, work and volunteering will keep me busy enough for the next 21 months that I won’t even notice he is gone. YEAH, RIGHT!
Sorry for the long sad post, I am just struggling a bit right now, and writing it out feels kind of nice.
Here are some of my fav. pics of T and me during previous UT football seasons. He will definitely be missed this year.
If you’ve been following along, or know me personally, you know that things have been QUITE busy this summer. Here is some INSTAproof.
I moved. (bed is built)
I got a puppy. (boyfriend and I rescued this little guy, Major.)
I started grad school. (and got an A!)
I vacationed some. (lots of golf.)
Right now, I’m on the hunt for lamp shades, euro pillow covers, and drape fabric. Suggestions welcomed!
This past weekend I ran through my local Home Goods to find the perfect side tables. It was a HALF-success. I found ONE perfect side table. I just needed a mate. After driving ALL over Austin to the other Home Goods, I was feeling pretty low. I posted on FB and BOOM social media did it again. A friend recommended a couple of stores in San Antonio and T found it right after work yesterday. I now have the perfect pair of side tables for my new bed.
Sorry for the professional iPhone photo. I cannot find these ANYWHERE on the web, so this photo will have to do until I get everything set up. (It is white, despite the terrible picture)
Since I cannot find these anywhere online, I can’t post a link, but I did find these SIMILAR ones on o.co.
OH YEAH, these were $69.99. Jealous?
So I was about 45 minutes into celebrating my new bed purchase when I realized I have to buy all new bedding. Cha-ching. Ouch.
I have been watching my favorite sites (Rue La La, Joss & Main, One Kings Lane, etc.) and I found these babies! They are on their way to my pretty little hands. I’m going with a white coverlet and 3 white matching euro pillows. Haven’t found that yet.
If you are interested to see some of my inspiration for the new room (t-minus 15 days until moving), you can check out my “bedroom” Pinterest board. It is oh so pretty.
I am in the market for matching side tables, bed-side lamps, and a tall mirror to stand against the wall. Let me know if you see any good steals that go with my “feel”.
Just kidding. But seriously. I have lived in 8 places in the past 6 years.
This time I am moving up north. Austin that is. I would be crazy to leave this city.
I’m hoping to post some of my moving adventure here on the blog. So I hope you enjoy, while I pull my hair out.
Step one: HIRE MOVERS. DONE.
T has a fraternity brother that started a moving company post-college, and I am very excited to use them this time around. Nick, the owner, is very nice, professional, and pricing is very competitive. Definitely check out Big Easy’s Moving for your moving needs in the Central Texas area!
PS. They donate a portion of proceeds to cancer research. AWESOME!
Step two: PACK. BLAH.
No thanks. Instead I just ordered this beauty. Mom is getting it for me for my birthday, and I can’t wait! I certainly hope it fits. (my first king size bed. EEK)
Step three: STOP FOR WINE.
Yes, this is happening right now.
CHEERS! Until I figure out my next step.
I’m kicking off 2013 with a crush on a necklace, a recipe for 8 that I made for myself, and my food diary put on blast. I am also trying to find a way to merge all of these into one post. Let’s see how that goes.
Isn’t think Kate Spade necklace to die for? I stumbled upon it at Nordys while shopping for other people. Always. So, I have decided that if I meet my goal weight (keep reading to get to that part) and it is still to be found, I will reward myself. BOOM! PS. It comes in three color options.
I bought ingredients last week to make my favorite meat sauce recipe b/c I thought the mister was coming to town this weekend. But he didn’t. But I made the meat sauce anyways. And it is a recipe for 8 people. And it was just me. Judge if you want. PS. I don’t put the celery in it.
Lastly, I downloaded this app about a year ago to track calories and exercise. I know many people who have had great success with food/exercise journaling, and I read great reviews about My Fitness Pal. I used it here and there, but I never stayed devoted. Welp, I’m digging in. A couple of friends and old co-workers have decided that we are going to make our food journals public and keep each other accountable. Seeing as boyfriend signed us up for one of those muddy obstacle run things, I’m thinking this isn’t such a bad idea. Feel free to follow along and heckle my fitness wall! My username is britsauer.
And that my friends/readers/bloggers is what is happening in my life right now. Oh yeah. I am also SUPER busy with real job. Womp Womp!
This week has seriously dragged on. Dragged. Is that the right word there? Maybe it’s drug. Oh well, it’s Friday!
Today after a busy day of meetings, I am headed to San Antonio to celebrate 3 years with Big T. We are starting with a Spurs (his home team) vs. Rockets (my home team) game tonight, and then spending some time with his family. Tomorrow we will HOPEFULLY sleep in a little and then grab lunch at our favorite Boerne lunch spot, Bumdoodlers. Don’t let the name deter you. Bums, to the locals, is friggin’ awesome!
Trav always tries to surprise me, but I don’t really do “suspense”, so he let me guess where we are going for dinner. After 5 guesses, he gave me a hint: “The first surprise you ever ruined”. Hudson’s on the Bend in Austin! It is where we spent our first Valentines together. Needless to say I think the weekend calls for some spandex pants.
Here are some pictures for you to enjoy of T and me over the last three years. (Sorry there are so many, I couldn’t decide!)
This is one of my all time favs! T and me with Bevo in California the day of the 2009 National Championship game.
We’ve been to a few sorority/fraternity formals…
(Doesn’t T look so handsome in a tux?)
We’ve also seen our share of UT Football games together. Dallas, Houston, Austin, California, Oklahoma, and next is San Antonio.
We don’t have a standard pose or anything…
My graduation (in the SHINING sun) and Trav’s graduation.
Not always too serious. The left was a halloween where I was a party animal and T was a doctor. He also looks pretty nice in scrubs… The right was after I got my “boy haircut” (words of Travis). By boy, he must have meant Hanson brother.
Sorry this post ended up so personal, but this guy makes me pretty happy. I was just going to document our plans for the weekend. Oops!
