It seems as if nail polish colors and designs are getting more creative than ever. Here are a few of my favorite nail trends happening right now.

I have been MIA for a couple of weeks after experiencing some ups and downs with the family. First an engagement party for my sister and soon to be brother-in-law, then the passing of my grandmother, Nana, as we called her. Thank you to everyone who kept her in your thoughts and prayers over the past couple of weeks. She is no longer in pain, but please continue praying for my Poppi. My Nana was a strong willed woman, and my Poppi is a little lost without her. I know he will find his way, but this has all been very hard for him.
Due to the family emergency, I missed the Texas football game last weekend, so this post finds me gearing up for my first home game of the season. With that in mind: What will I wear? With the temps in the high 90’s during the afternoon, and in the 60’s at night, I think I am going to aim for something like this…
I am firm believer that Texas football can turn any situation around. Nothing is greater than filing into DKR after being gone for to long, to watch the Horns play. I will take a picture tomorrow of my attempt to build this outfit and post it next week.
If you are a Texas fan and have not heard the new Django Walker song, Texas Longhorn, please enjoy.
While Travis is at Disney World with his family, I am admiring images that remind me of a fairy tale. What does your fairy tale consist of?
This August I will not be headed back to college because I have graduated. Sad day. I am however studying for my GRE through a Kaplan class, and it has me inspired to learn more. I have decided to start with these three books.
1) My boyfriend is currently reading Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell and it seems quite interesting.
2) The movie The Help hits theaters tomorrow and I am hoping to hold off seeing it until reading the Kathryn Stockett hit.
3) Lastly, you can never be over prepared for a cocktail party. That is why I am pick up Lis Lillien’s Hungry Girl Happy Hour.
What are you feeding your brain with these days?
The Austin, TX summer heat is killing me, especially since I have not been at my job long enough to use vacations days to escape to somewhere cooler or wetter. Today will be Austin’s 23rd consecutive day of 100+ degree days, and 55th day at 100+ this year. The only thing that has me excited for summer is planning my sister’s 2012 summer wedding! My bridesmaid dress came in the mail this week, and I could not be happier with it.
She will be married on a cliff overlooking the hill country just outside of Austin on June 1, 2012. What do you think?
Prior to today, I spent my first three months of employment at The University of Texas in a cubicle. Although my directors disguised it with the adorable name of “work cubby”, it was still a cubicle. Today I moved up to a REAL office. I also received my business cards in the mail this morning, YIPEE! I am moving on up.
I have started to decorate my new office, but unfortunately it won’t be painted until October. Until then, these are the pieces I have purchased so far-
After the office is painted a light smoky grey, I am going to bring in an upholstered wing-back chair and some more books and pictures for my bookshelf. I also need to hang my mirror and diploma. When all is done, I will post pictures!
What would you add to my office?
This past weekend, my amazing boyfriend went to Vegas without me. Sounds like an amazing guy, huh? It was actually a guys trip, so I couldn’t be too bummed, plus I already have two future Vegas trips already planned and a possible third in the works! I don’t if you have ever visited the fabulous Las Vegas strip, but it has to be one of my favorite places on earth. Second to Disney World, of course!
At the ripe age of 22, I have already visited 3 times, and cannot wait to go back. So, naturally, I have already started shopping for my trips!
The first trip is a girls weekend with my sister the week after my birthday, so I am eyeing this BCBG strapless dress that is currently on sale!
Next, is a weekend get-a-way with my parents. We are actually not staying on the strip, but instead at the JW Marriott resort. Very excited for spa trips with mom and shopping, so I have found this Thomas Wylde tunic.
Lastly, I will be headed back to Vegas again next spring for my sister’s bachelorette party! I have found an amazing Alice + Olivia embellished dress I am going to pair with nude pumps.
What is your go to piece for a weekend in Vegas?
My two favorite back to school items growing up were new tennis shoes and organizers. This year, there will be no “back-to-school” for me, however I recently purchased a new pair of tennis shoes, thanks to the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, and I am feeling the need to purchase an agenda book to accompany them. I have decided on a 2012 Large Agenda from Lilly Pulitzer, but I am struggling to pick a pattern. I love all four of them! Please help!
